Saucony Flo50 Summer Training Blog: Cooper Teare

Cooper Teare (1634) outkicks Jack Van Scoter for the California DV state cross country title last fall.

Week 3: 8/1-8/7

Last week before school starts, much less mileage than last week.

Monday was two 5 mile runs, the morning run was a solo easy run at 7 minute pace and afternoon I met with the team for the second run. 10 mile day.

Tuesday started with an easy mile tempo at 4:50 then we jogged a mile to do bridge loops (a little less than 1200 meter loop). We did 4 bridge loops, cutting down by 10 seconds on each one. 9 miles for the day. Some teammates and I left for a school retreat later that day.

Wednesday we had to get up at 6am to do our run on the retreat. Easy 8 miles with the team at 7:10

Thursday was another 6am day with the team. We did 4 x 5 minutes hard tempo then 3 minutes easy. The hard started at 5:50 and cut down to 5:15. Only 5 miles for the day.

Friday I was gone and busy all day so I didn't run, but will make up some mileage on my long run.

Saturday was 2 x 2 mile tempo. First tempo was at 5:30 pace as sort of a warm up tempo to get the legs moving and I finished in 10:55. Second one was at 4:55 pace to get into some speed. Mile warm up and mile cool down for 6 miles.

Sunday some of the guys and girls went up to the Oakland hills for some extra mileage. We decided to do a hill we call WAB, a super steep hill just under a mile long, in the middle of our run which killed the mileage but helped us get in some hill work. 8 miles to wrap up the week.

Week Total: 46 miles

Next week will be back over 50 miles.
