Saucony Flo50 Summer Training Blog: Jess Lawson

Week 3: 7/25-7/31

This week didn't turn out to be quite the week I had planned as I had to take 2 days off due to a cold. Despite the cold I was still able to get in more mileage than last week though which is great, this was also my last week in Maine and I was able to explore some new trails to run on which is always exciting. Overall a decent week and no hip flexor pain whatsoever :)

(7/25) Just over 6 miles with my dad, we ran from our house to Jordan Pond along a regular hiking trail so it was extremely hilly...brought back memories of the '15 NY XC state course. I was a little sore post run so I Iced, stretched, foam rolled and did core.

(7/26) Easy 7 today which is my longest run since outdoor. It was a pretty hilly run as most are here in Maine, but I felt great which is a confidence booster for sure.

(7/27) Sick

(7/28) Sick

(7/29) 6mi at 7:30 pace with my brother Nathan, today was my first run back from being sick for two days, I felt a little rough at first but after mile 2 my breathing got better. After the run I stretched for 10min and did some hip flexor strengthening exercises.

(7/30) Ran 6.5 at 7:40 pace at a new running loop called Witches Hole, the run went by really quickly which was nice.

(7/31) Easy 6, my breathing was still off because of my lingering cold but overall a decent run and I even saw some horses along the way so I stopped and pet them for a few seconds and then continued my run. This is also my last day/run in Maine which is sad but I'm pretty happy to get back to training with the team.

Weekly mileage: 31.83
