Kick of the Week Countdown: 2016 Top 10

#4 Can Kate Murphy Kick Down the Pros?

Lake Braddock, Va. junior Kate Murphy won the Swarthmore Final Qualifier 1500m in 4:14.26, a time that makes her the sixth-fastest performer in U.S. prep history. Her prior best was 4:16.98, set en route to winning the USATF Jr. National Championship last summer in Eugene, Ore.

She made a huge move in the final stretch to beat out Marielle Hall, a member of the 2015 Team USA contingent to the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, and a favorite to make the 5K Olympic team. Fellow prep Briana Gess took seventh in 4:31.75 to rank U.S. No. 9; she is a junior at Haddonfield Memorial High School in New Jersey, which is Hall's alma mater.
