Saucony Flo50 Summer Training Blogs: Nevada Mareno

Week 1: 7/11 - 7/18

In the summer, my cross country team meets at 7:30am 5-6 days a week at Umstead State Park, which is just a 10 minute drive from our school. It has miles of diverse trails making it a great place to train for cross country season! This was my second week of training so far.

7/11 Monday:
Regular Run
35min @7min pace

7/12 Tuesday:
Speed Game
We did a mini "workout" game just to get heart rates up, legs moving, and have some fun. It was 8x300m at 5k pace. We were split into 2 teams and the last 3 girls each 300 were marked out. Whichever team had the fewest team members remaining had to bring breakfast on Saturday. My team lost :(

7/13 Wednesday:
Rest Day
Today instead of a run we had a local physical therapy business come and do assessments of our strength, flexibility, and running form.

7/14 Thursday:
Regular Run
35min @7min pace

7/15 Friday:
Early Season Hills
We did a somewhat relaxed hill workout on a hill we call "Boy Scout" today to change it up a little. We went up the hill for 1min 6 times. The pace was conservative to keep from getting sore/ tired legs.

7/16 Saturday:
Long Run
50min @7min pace
Followed by a breakfast supplied by my team that lost Tuesday.

Total Mileage: 25mi
