Park Hill, Mo. senior Chris Nilsen has enjoyed a storybook season. He entered the year with a 17-0 best, then improved to 17-1, then 17-6.5 before becoming the tenth vaulter in prep history to clear 18 feet and eventually, set the national high school record at 18-4.75. He is undefeated this year through New Balance Nationals Outdoor and USATF Junior Nationals, including two wins over national indoor record holder Mondo Duplantis. He ranks No. 18 in the nation.
