MURRIETA, Calif. (June 28, 2016) -- Michael Norman was named the Gatorade National Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year today for the second consecutive year. He is the 11th athlete to win two of the national awards in consecutive years.
The Vista Murrieta High School senior ranks as one of the top male sprinters in U.S. history. He most recently lowered his 200m personal best to 20.15 (+1.2), the third-fastest in prep history and the fastest in the nation this year, en route to winning the USATF Junior Nationals 200m. Norman also ranks No. 7 on the all-time 400m list with his PR of 45.19.
Norman will compete in both events at the U.S. Olympic Trials next week in Eugene, Ore.
