As much as an athlete defending her state title can be an upset, Block's win at the Georgia state meet this weekend was. Hurley came into the meet with a 4:46 1600 PR, five seconds faster than Block's 4:51. Five seconds at that level is no joke. But that's how much Block beat Hurley by this weekend to defend her Georgia 1A Private 1600 state title.
