Great Oak High School head coach Doug Soles told MileSplit, "Our boys will be looking to challenge the national records for 4x800, 4x1600 and DMR."

The Wolfpack ran the fastest 4x1600 in 40 years last weekend with their 16:55.85 clocking, which contained splits of 4:19.32 (Solomon Fountain), 4:14.10 (Cole Spencer), 4:11.55 (Isaac Cortes) and 4:10.88 (Spencer Dodds).

South Eugene High School ran 17:06.6 for the 4xMile in 1976; McCullough High School -- now The Woodlands High School -- ran 17:04.7 for 4x1600m in 1986.

Great Oak won Mt. SAC Relays last year in 10:05. To get the national record, they'll need to better the 9:49.78 mark set by South Lakes High School in 2001. That time took splits of 3:03.2 for 1200m (Richard Smith), 50.2 for 400m (Justin Smyser), 1:56.6 for 800m (Kanda Karmo), and 3:59.8 for 1600m from national high school record holder Alan Webb.

Long Beach Poly of California set the 4x800m Relay national high school record of 7:28.75 at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 2011. Read the story here.
