Press Release from the NYRR Millrose Games:
Since the New Balance Games high school miles were canceled last weekend there have been some changes to the NYRR Millrose Games HS Mile qualifying procedures
We are announcing seven boys and seven girls who have either qualified or been invited at this time. We have also included a list of 9 boys and girls who were consider top contenders to earn an invitation to the NYRR Millrose Games. Those names are listed below. Athletes not on that list can still be considered for the NYRR Millrose Games.
We have added a boys and girls high school one mile race to The Armory Track Invitational for the first time ever. The winner of each race will be invited to the NYRR Millrose Games.
Once the winner of the ATI is invited that will leave four more spots in each race that the committee will fill based on current season mile times as well as their success overall this season. That means that athletes who have run fast 1000m or 3000/2 Mile races can be considered if we feel they are deserving.
If you wish to be considered for entry into the mile at The Armory Track Invitational on Saturday, February 6th, you must email Dan Doherty (dohertyd@optonline.net) by Sunday, January 31st. The final accepted fields for this race will be posted on Monday, February 1st. The field will be kept to 12 runners only.
