1. Candace Hill wins pro debut
Candace Hill, who at 16 years old is the youngest track athlete in history to turn pro, won her professional debut in the 60m dash at the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama. She ran 7.34 in the prelims, then 7.32 to win the final in a new Meet Record time.
Hill's prior best was 7.52, set in 2015. Former meet record holder Gloria Asumnu, an Olympian for Nigeria, ran the second-fastest time in qualifying (7.46) but did not compete in the finals.
The junior at Rockdale County High School also ran a leg on the ASICS Track Club 4x400m Relay, which won in 3:44.16.
