Logan Morris receives state honor

Spartanburg Christian Academy senior and two-time Foot Locker Nationals (ninth, 2015) qualifier Logan Morris was named Gatorade state runner of the year for cross country.

The award recognizes not only athletic performance, but high standards of academic achievement and character that is exemplary on and off the course.

Morris received the honor in cross country for 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 and captured her seventh consecutive SCISA individual title.

Morris has maintained a 5.02 weighted grade-point-average and served as student council president and several community and church projects.

"While the elite performances that she turns in each week are head-turning, they are magnified by her consistency," said Shawn Wilson, head coach at rival Spartanburg Day School. "And talk about a performance of a lifetime at Foot Locker nationals. To finish ninth in the South Region and to come back and finish ninth in the country and earn All-American status-what a way to finish your high school career."

Morris, a Clemson signee, is now a finalist for national Gatorade runner of the year. The award is announced later this month.
