NATIONAL RECORD: Alyssa Wilson Crushes Shot Put Junior Class Standard

National Junior Class Record/New Jersey State Record 54-5 Shot Put | Bishop Loughlin Games (NY)

The first national record of the season went down on Saturday, as Donovan Catholic, N.J.'s Alyssa Wilson broke the national junior class record in the shot put with her heave of 54-5. The throw ranks No. 3 on the U.S. All-Time List and stands as the New Jersey state record. Oh, yea, she also broke the Bishop Loughlin Games meet record by nearly 10 feet.

The previous national junior class record of 53-5.75 was set in 1997 by Heather Colyer of East Juanita High, Penn. The previous New Jersey state record was 51-9.5, set by Nicole Sims of Plainfield High School in 1991.
