Virginia completely dominated this year's installment of the Foot Locker South Championships. The day started off right with Western Albemarle's coach Charlie Hurt running 15:16 to take the open race. He was then followed by Cave Spring freshman Timothy Grider who took the boys' freshman race. Shortly after that in the girls' junior/senior race Cosby's Jordan Elam took the title to help Virginia have three victories in the first four races. Also in the earlier races Virginia has Lee-Davis' Jack Ikenberry place very highly.

As the clock struck 10 all eyes were on the start line as superstars Weini Kelati, Nevada Mareno (NC), and Libby Davidson took to the course! The race started out quick and to the script with Weini opening in 5:06 with Nevada just on her side. Libby sat comfortably back in 7th in a strong group of five ladies at the mile mark.
Just after the two-mile mark the Virginia girls made their moves! First it was Weini at 10:42 creating separation and then Libby followed suit moving from fifth to third almost at the exact same time. As the race went on Weini and Libby just kept getting stronger and put distance between their competition.
Down the stretch Weini came as she powered across the line in 16:42 to win the FL South title. Libby was third in 17:14 and George C. Marshall's Heather Holt (5A Runner-up) was 11th in 17:46 as the first finishing sophomore girl.
Also finishing in the top 30 for the girls' championship race was Emma Wolcott (Tuscarora) 22nd in 18:08, Sara Freix (Westfield) 23rd in 18:09, Morgan Lewis (Veritas) 27th in 18:18, Jill Bracaglia (Oakton) 28th in 18:20, and Rachel Northcutt (Cosby) 30th in 18:24.
