Ben Veatch Commits To Indiana University

No. 4 ranked Ben Veatch of No. 9 ranked Carmel High School announced his verbal commitment to Indiana University on Friday afternoon via Twitter.

Veatch chose the Hoosiers over Stanford, Wisconsin and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

"The short answer is IU just felt like the best fit for me," he said. "I liked all the schools I mentioned above, but I like IU the best."

The senior is the top returnee from NXN, where he placed seventh last fall. He was also a top finisher at Foot Locker Nationals, where he placed 14th. He owns personal best times of 4:18 for 1600m, 8:53 for 3200m and 14:53 for 5k (XC). This fall, Veatch is undefeated and recently set an all-time best for 5k XC in 14:53 at the IHSAA Section 19 Championship meet.
