The Flo50 #1 ranked Greak Oak girls made their debut with a 'W' on Saturday night, but Desert Vista of Arizona kept the team scoring closer than many anticipated as the final score was 49-65.

Desert Vista junior Baylee Jones was the first to cross the line, racing 17:13.79 just ahead of Great Oak No. 1 Evelyn Mandel (17:16.73), as the Thunder actually had three girls in before Great Oak's No. 2. The deciding factor was No. 5, as Great Oak was able to pack up better with five scorers in the top 16 overall.

Is Great Oak vulnerable? Probably not. Add Flo50 #3 Destiny Collins to the mix with her 9:53 3200m chops, and she is nearly a guaranteed 1-point scorer at any meet. The senior is easing her way into racing after a long summer track season.

Spencer Dodds of Great Oak ran 14:45.53 to edge Andrew Burkhardt of JSerra Catholic (14:46.77). The Flo50 #8 ranked boys packed five scorers into the top 21 overall to win the team title with 60 points.
