
Ja'Marari Ward, the national champion indoors in both the long jump and triple jump, was unable to defend his titles outdoors as he decided to shut down his season in mid June due to ankle injury. However, Ward had put together an outstanding outdoor season up until that point as the junior from Cahokia High School in Illinois wrapped his spring with a US #1 mark in the triple jump at 51'11" and US #2 mark in the long jump at 25'6.50".
