Six to Represent Colorado at World Youth Trials

Maya Evans has recently pushed her long jump out beyond 20 feet and looks to make a strong bid this week to advance to the World Youth Games. Colorado Track XC file photo by Alan Versaw.

The World Youth Games Trials will be held in Lisle, Illinois, this week in conjunction with the USATF Hershey Outdoor Championships. The World Youth Trials, however, settles all of their issues on Tuesday and Wednesday, whereas the Hershey Outdoor Championships continues through Sunday.

Representing Colorado in the World Youth Trials are six athletes (assuming my scan of the entries did not overlook anyone).

Lutheran's Adam Dawson competes in the discus. Palmer's Marlee Brown takes on her 100 meter hurdles specialty, while DSST's Marcus Howard takes on the 110 hurdles. Heide Baron of Pine Creek unleashes her speed on the 400. Tianna Terrell of Rampart is set to skim the 400 hurdles. And Maya Evans of Vista Peak will visit both the 100 meter dash and long jump.

Athletes qualifying will go on to compete at this year's World Youth Games in Cali, Colombia, on July 15 - 19.

Results from Tuesday's and Wednesday's events will be posted here as they become available.
