The All-American Watch List - Boys Hurdles

MileSplit All-American Watch List presented by New Balance

Chad Zallow is only hurdler on both of our watch lists for the 110 and 300/400 meter hurdles. He earned it with his impressive sweep of the hurdles at the always stacked Arcadia Invitational.

Boys 110 Meter Hurdles

1. Chad Zallow (John F. Kennedy OH - Sr.) - A close runner-up indoors to a national title in the 60 meter hurdles to Grant Holloway, the Ohio state champ Zallow has come out on fire to start the outdoor season including a US #1 time of 13.50 at the Arcadia Invite. 8th in the finals at last year's New Balance Nationals Outdoor 110 meter hurdles finals, Zallow was an AAU Junior Olympic Games champion last summer and is already running a full fourth tenths of a second faster than his junior year in the 110 hurdles.

2. Marcus McWilliams (Pflugerville TX - Sr.) - To win the 110 meter hurdles at the Texas Relays, one truly has to be one of the nation's best as McWilliams defeated arguably a finals field that might not be seen anywhere for the rest of the year in a US #2 wind legal clocking of 13.63 at the University of Texas. McWilliams has already dipped under 14 seconds in a handful of meets this spring.

3. Damion Thomas (Northeast FL - So.) - Only a sophomore, Thomas last year as a freshmen was a Florida 4A state runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles. Ranked US #3 in the 110 meter hurdles now as a sophomore after his wind legal 13.64 victory at the Florida Relays, Thomas aims to pick up his first of many state titles this weekend. His performance at the Florida Relays also broke the 15 year old national age group record in the event.

4. Chevis Armstead (Desoto TX - Sr.) - Last year's Texas 5A state champion in the 110 meter hurdles and a returning New Balance Nationals All-American in the event (6th in 2014 finals), Armstead has been unbeaten this season with the lone exception a narrow loss to McWilliams at the Texas Relays with a personal best clocking of 13.64 (US #4).

5. Joseph Anderson (Upland CA - So.) - Top returning hurdler from the state of California, Anderson's lone loss of the season came in a runner-up finish to a national performance by Chad Zallow at the Arcadia Invite with his first sub 14 second race ever at 13.94. Anderson improved upon that performance significantly next at the Mt. SAC Relays with a wind-aided 13.67 victory at the Mt. SAC Relays.

6. Grant Holloway (Grassfield VA - Jr.) - One would think that the New Balance Nationals Indoor 60 meter hurdles champ should be much higher on the list. We agree, but need Mr. Holloway to join the sub 14 club like the rest of his national class hurdling brethen. Right now, Holloway has a PR that sits at 14.11 in the event, which puts him behind a significant number of hurdlers across the country. A sub 14 second race has to be coming soon for Holloway and in a big way.

7. John Burt (Lincoln FL - Sr.) - The 2014 Florida 3A state runner-up has put together a solid and strong senior campaign including wins at the Bob Hayes Invite and FSU Relays, a runner-up finish at Florida Relays behind Damion Thomas, and recently rolled a 13.56 PR in his regional meet (no wind reading).

8. Michael Dickson (Beaufort SC - Sr.) - The defending South Carolina state champ had been hovering just above 14 seconds until last week when he clocked a 13.83 PR at his regional meet. His notable best races of the season including a close runner-up to Burt at the Bob Hayes Invite in Florida and winning the always competitive Taco Bell Classic in a wind legal 14.01 clocking.

9. Charles Graham (Phoebus VA - Sr.) - Always count on Charles Graham to find himself in the hurdles finals at season's end. Graham was an All-American outdoors last year with a 5th place finish in the 110 hurdles finals in Greensboro (13.97) and third indoors in the 60 meter hurdles finals at the Armory behind only Holloway and Zallow. Graham faced Zallow again in the hurdles at the Arcadia Invite earlier in the month and grabbed 3rd in his first race of the 2015 outdoor season.

10. Daniel Roberts (Hampton GA - Jr.) - The Georgia state leader has dipped under 14 seconds half dozen times this season including a 13.79 personal best near the start of the season for him back in February.
