What to Watch: Indoor Track Meets 1/31

VA Tech High School Invitational (VA)

Grassfield's Grant Holloway has already proven to be the best in the nation this year over 55m, 55h and high jump. Can he take down the 300m National Record of 33.05?

MileSplit will be streaming the action live all weekend. Sign up to watch the meet, starting at 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday and 9:00 a.m. ET on Saturday!

While Rai Benjamin, Jaron Flournoy and co. will make a run for the 300m National Record at the New York Armory, the Lyles brothers will make their own go at history. They won't be alone - Noah (US #4 21.47 200m) and Josephus (US #2 1:04.6 500m) will race Rico Gomez (US #1 1:04.55 500m) and three-event US #1 Grant Holloway (nation-leader at 6.3 55m, 7.23 55h & 7-0 HJ).

Fans will see Holloway attempting to better his nation-leaders in the hurdles and high jump as well.

Perhaps the real question of the weekend should be which meet produces the deepest 300m field: the Armory Invitational or Virginia Tech?

Don't forget Darryl Haraway, Jr. of DeMatha Catholic (MD) on Day 1. The Florida State commit is the defending national champion over 60m and will debut at 55m in the event.

On the ladies side, US #2 38.55 300m star Brandee' Johnson of Nansemond River (VA) will surely be racing not only the impressive field assembled in Lauryn Ghee, Ebony Williams - just to name a few - but comparing her marks against the rugged competition in New York, where US #1 McLaughlin will race. Be sure that a new ladies 300m leader - or time - will emerge this weekend.

Josephus Lyles and Gomez will race head-to-head again in the 500m in what is sure to be barn-burner. US #4 1:05.21 runner Antonio Coleman (Bowie, MD) could score an upset.

Four of the top five female 500m runners in the nation will face off for top honors, minus 1:13.84 leader Ghee. McKinley McNeill (Parkland, NC) has the top time in the field with her US #2 1:14.27.

Malia Ellington (Community, NC) headlines the Girls Invitational Mile with a season-best effort of 5:00.93 for 1,600m. Can she break 5? Matthew Novak (Deep Run, VA) has run 4:18 this season.

Top female athletes to watch on Day 2 are Shannon Quinn (Trinity, PA), an 800m specialist with a half mile best of 2:11.9 who will make her 1k debut, T-US #3 5-8 high jumper Nicie Grier-Spratley (Thomas Edison, VA), US #2 19-6.5 long jumper Taylor Woods (Riverdale Baptist, MD),

The Girls 4x200m will feature six of the top ten teams in the nation, led by US #2 1:39.23 performers Nansemond River (VA). US #4 Parkland will challenge in hopes of breaking 1:40 for the first time this year.
