Hoop Earns 2nd Straight MSC Runner of the Week Award

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Women’s Cross Country program has already done very well this season as they have competed against many elite programs in the country including numerous NCAA Division I opponents.  With some good top finishes this season, one Patriot lady has already caught the eye of the Mid-South Conference (MSC) yet again as she earned another honor.

UC senior Danielle Hoop (Owenton, Ky.) was named this week’s Mid-South Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.  Hoop captures her 5th career conference weekly honor and 2nd of the season.

Hoop crossed the finish line in 14th place on Friday at the Queen City Invitational, a race filled with NCAA D-I competition.  She was the top NAIA finisher in the 185 woman race.  Hoop completed the 5k in 19:18in harsh weather conditions, where the temperature was hovering around triple digits.  She finished just 16 seconds off of being in the top 10, but finished 18 seconds in front of her nearest NAIA competitor.  She led the Patriots to an 8th place team finish in the 20 team competition.

The Patriots will be back in action on September 20th as they will compete in the Cedarville Invitational in Cedarville, Ohio.
