We said Floridians were ready to show out this week in Eugene and they did just that on day two of competition bringing home the first medals of the meet for Team USA on both the boys and girls side with Kendal Williams and Trayvon Bromell taking home gold and silver in the men's 100m dash and sixteen year old Kaylin Whitney bringing back bronze in the women's 100m dash!

Day Two Florida Highlights:
After watching Kaylin Whitney bring home a bronze medal in the women's 100 meter dash, the Florida men one upped her. Kendal Williams shocked the field with a new personal best time of 10.21. The FSU signee roared out of the blocks and went full throttle to the finish outlasting NCAA 100m champion and Baylor freshman Trayvon Bromell. Bromell, the former Gibbs standout ended his season with a time of 10.28. Williams and fellow FSU signee Trentavis Friday will be back at it again tomorrow in the 200m where they will be some of the top contenders along with Zharnell Hughes of Barbados. Williams and Bromell are also in the 4x100m relay pool.

Kaylin Whitney concludes her 100m season with a bronze medal showing in 11.49. Not exactly what she wanted, but the youngster can hold her head up high. As a sophomore, she wins the 4A state title, Dream 100, Brooks PR Invitational, and USA Junior Championships. She still has two more events this week the 200 and 4x100m. More chances for more medals!
Day Two Morning Session Highlights:
Several Floridians started early on Wednesday in the first session of the day. Gabe Moore continued his quest to improve his decathlon score while current Baylor freshman T.J. Holmes enjoyed the opening heats of the 400m hurdles.
Gabe Moore won his heat in the 110h in 14.82 seconds earning him 871 points toward his total for the competition. He moved up from a 12th place showing after day one to finish in the top 10, 8th with a new personal best 7,619 points!
T.J. Holmes wins heat 2 of men's 400h in 52 .03. It is the seventh fastest heading into the semi-finals, but he says he was just cruising. Floridians doing big things!
Nick Anderson finishes second in heat number two of the 110m hurdles semi-finals in 13.68. His time is the slowest of those advancing to the finals. So we will have to do work to bring home a medal. See what he had to say following the race.
Kaylin Whitney fights onto the finals winning heat three in 11.44. Arianna Washington also in the finals for Team USA. Whitney will need to improve her start in order to bring home gold!
Jamal Walton ends his spectacular season on a sour note, pulling up on the backstretch in the 400m semi-finals. Can't wait to see him run next spring against high school competition. Should be a definite contender for a state title!
