ATHLETE VIDEO INTERVIEWS
Men's Decathlon (110H, Discus, Pole Vault)
Harrison Williams (TN)
Gabe Moore (FL)
Harrison Williams opened up day two of the men's decathlon with a new personal best clocking of 14.37 in the 110 meter hurdles. His second place finishing time in his heat also added 925 points to his total and maintain his 10th place position, but closing the gap on others ahead of him deeper in the top 10.
Florida native Gabe Moore also ran exceptionally well in his 110 hurdles heat in winning his race with a time of 14.82 (871 pts) to move one spot in the overall standings just behind Williams in 11th place with a current total score of 4881 points.
Women's Decathlon (Long Jump, Javelin Throw)
Ashlee Moore (AZ)
Shaina Burns (MN)
Travonn White (AZ)
From the morning long jump qualifying rounds of the long jump on a slight and wet runway, one of the two Americans was able to move onto the finals as Travonn White leaped 7.5 meters (24'7.25"), which was second best in his flight and fifth best overall. White certainly has a real chance to medal if he can pop a mark close to his 26'4.50" wind legal PR from US Junior Nationals.
Kenneth Fisher (GA)
Georgia native and current Bethune-Cookman University jumper Kenny Fisher battled the less than ideal conditions for the long jump, but was unable to produce a mark to move him onto the finals as he was only able to muster a best mark on the day at 6.97 meters.
Katharine Newhoff (NY)
West Islip High School (NY rising senior Katie Newhoff ran a big PR of 51:40.42 in the women's 10K racewalk to improve 53 seconds from her US Junior Nationals performance that qualified her for the World Championships. In another note on the race, a World Junior record was set by Anezka Drahotova in a time of 42:47.25. That is walking back to back 21:23 5K's. She could walk her way onto many high school girls XC team's top 7s this fall!
