Salute to Seniors- Courtney Broussard

Name: Courtney Broussard
School: Kingwood Park High School

What was your most memorable race?
The Regional XC Championships my Junior year.  Everything came together on a personal level and as a team.  We won hands down.  Old teammates were there to cheer us on and the team was a solid united family.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
Myself.  Learning to put aside doubt and just be my best whenever I stepped up to the line was the hardest thing to learn to do.

What was your greatest accomplishment?
Competing in the State XC Meet 3 of my 4 high school years.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
Enjoy the races more.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
The change in coaching my senior year.  It was hard to switch from a method that I had trained under for three years to something new and different.

What will you miss the most?
My teammates!!!

What advice you would give to younger athletes?
Eat clean, hydrate more than you think is necessary and get lots of rest.  These are the basics.  If you have the basics, you can achieve your potential.  Motivated people find ways!

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
Coach Lanehart taught me to take responsibility for my life.  No one else is to blame and life is not always fair.  When you know these things, you can put aside the pettiness and blame and determine your future. Character matters.

What are your college plans?
I am running cross country and track at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and studying exercise science to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. GO CAJUNS!!!

Who would you like to say thank you to?
Besides my high school coaches who meant the world to me (including my soccer coach, Jess White), I would also like to thank Coach Ondrasek my T3 camp coach. He was a tremendously positive influence in my high school running.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?
MOTIVATED PEOPLE FIND WAYS!!!
