5 Miles (8.05K), 42:48.00
Over some months, there has been some mystery about a certain path that heads south of town through Nymore. It is a pretty obvious path up to Leuken's South grocery store, but all of a sudden stops with no explanation or signs. Eric said a few months ago that Hougen told him the path starts again if you go through the neighborhood a few blocks, but we could not find it. However on Friday when we were coming back into town, Eric got it in his head to show me the area in the Industrial Park where they have the Pipeline stuff. So we drove over there and in the process, a path (biking/running looking path) caught my eye very readily where it cross the road on which we were driving. This really piqued my interest, and sparked us into trying to figure out where it goes towards town. So we went over to the place where we knew it ends by Leuken's, then we through the neighborhood about four blocks until we happened to stumble upon where it appeared to come out.
So today, I got the idea that I wanted to go run out there, but with only a five-mile run, it would only be worth it if I could get dropped-off. We figured out that where the path intersects with that road out in the Industrial Park is four miles from here. So he dropped me off there, I ran another half mile out, then came back. It was really fun going on a new route, especially when I've lived here over three years. You would think I would have known all the routes by now! The terrain was nice, and it was interesting seeing new sites. When I had to turn around after only half a mile of going out, though, I was pretty bummed. I really wanted to keep going and inspect it all some more. And really, only a little over two miles of the 5 mile distance was new to me.
Run-wise, it was a good run. I felt good, especially considering that hard racing yesterday. I was cruising pretty effortlessly the entire time, and it went by really fast.
