Dear Coaches:

The Annual Franklin Scott Pell Invitational Track Meet for 7th and 8th grade students will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018. The meet will start with field events beginning @ 3:30 PM and the track events beginning @ 4:00 PM. There will be a coaches meeting prior to the start of the meet.

Eligible athletes (boys and girls) must presently be enrolled in 7th or 8th grade. An adult representative must accompany each team or individual. Teams or individuals must be PIAA member or school affiliated. Each participant is permitted to compete in a maximum of 3 (three) individual events. This would include relays. There will be no limit to the number of athletes or relay teams that can enter an event.

We will be seeding this years invitational through Miles Split. You will register your athletes, along with their events/performance times or distances on this web site. I will be sending out an e-mail on how to use this site. The last day to register athletes is tentatively set for Friday, April 27, 2018. We encourage you to enter actual performance times and distances for the year to ensure accuracy in seeding properly. If there are any changes, I will be in touch.

Entry Fee: $10.00 per athlete or $90 per school. Entry fee should be received by

April 27, 2018. Scratch only after this date.

The track is located at Franklin High School on Pone Lane, mile east of Route 8, south of Franklin. There is a traffic light on Route 8 at Pone Lane. Buses will drop the teams off at the field and be routed to park at an off-site location until school is dismissed.

The track has modern polyurethane surface. The jumping runways are also made of polyurethane.

The shot and discus circles are on concrete surfaces.

Running shoes without spikes or track shoes with 1/8 spikes must be worn on all polyurethane surfaces.

Team uniforms are not mandatory. Competitors must wear the usual track clothing when competing.

Jewelry and headwear rules will be enforced.

Ribbons will be awarded for the top 6 places in each event (boys & girls). Because of computerized seeding, add on will be permitted to run the event but not entitled to a ribbon.

Boys Javelin

Each competitor in the shot, discus, (high, long and triple jumps) and javelin will get three (3) tries only.

High Jumpers will be eliminated after three (3) unsuccessful tries

Boys will throw a 4.0 kilogram shot (8 lb. 13oz.)

Girls will throw a 6 lb. shot

Boys and Girls will throw a 1.0 kilogram discus

Boys and Girls will throw girls javelin

There will be no pole vault.

Hurdle specifications as per National Federation of State High School Association Rules for Junior High Competition

Places in track events will be determined by time. Places in field events will be determined by distance or heights.

There is always the possibility of a technical failure. As a back-up, all participating athletes should have a sticker with his/her last name, first initial, name of event, and school listed.

In case of a weather emergency, please have all your athletes report to their busses
