Copper Canyon High School is pleased to host their 4th Annual Copper Classic. This document contains important information about the meet. Please read carefully and contact the meet director with any questions you might have. This will be a state qualifying meet.

Facility:

Copper Canyon has a 9 lane all-weather track. Athletes are to use flat, or 1/8 spikes. Any violations will result in immediate disqualifications for the meet.

All jumping events are placed on all-weather surfaces. Same spike rules apply to all jumping events. Starting blocks will be furnished by Copper Canyon High School or individuals may bring their own. Copper Canyon will not be liable for damage or loss to other starting blocks.

Timing of all running events will be done electronically, backed up by stopwatches. Any malfunctions of the electronic system will defer to hand held times, preventing that event from being marked as state qualifying.

Rules and Regulations:

All non-participants and coaches must stay away from the finish line at all times during the meet. Canopies may be set up at the top of the stadium only or on the East Side Bleachers.

Payment:

The Entry fee is $300 for both girls and boys teams or $175 for a single gender team. ALL PAYMENTS SHOULD BE MADE TO COPPER CANYON TRACK CLUB 9126 W Camelback Rd, Glendale, AZ 85305. All Payments are due by March 31st, 2018. We are accepting the 1st 12 Teams who commit. No more than 13 teams total including Copper Canyon.

Entries:

Each school will be allowed to submit four (4) competitors and 1 Relay in each event.

All entries must be from a 2018 meet that utilized a F.A.T. electronic timing system. Converted times will not be accepted.

All entries will be submitted online through Athletic.net. Please ensure that you have entered all of your athletes correctly as we will not be allowing any changes the day of the meet.

You must have all of your entries submitted to Athletic.net by 11:59pm March 9th, there will be no alternates, changes or additions the day of the meet.

Awards:

Medals: will be awarded 1st through 3rd places. Medals will be packaged by school and can be picked up in the press box when your team has finished for the day.

Trophies: Team Champion Trophy will be awarded for 1st place and a plaque will be awarded for 2nd and 3rd place. This is for both boys and girls squad.

Scoring: Scoring for all events will follow 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

Checking in and Arrival:

Coaches will pick up team packets at the Coaches meeting at 8:00 AM.

Team camps must be set up in the west bleachers.

Athletes:

Athletes who are not competing will not be allowed on the infield. This will be strictly enforced.

The track will be open for warm ups until 8:30 am. After that time, all warm-ups must be completed in the designated area lower practice field north of the track. Athletes should use the athlete and coach entrance. It will be located on the South side of the track.

Trainer will be available.

Track Events:

1. Lanes will be assigned in the 100, 200, 400, 110 and 300 hurdles.

2. Track events check in area is located on the Southwest end of the stadium past the Finish Line. All athletes must check in to the Clerk of the Course. The staging area will be at Midfield. After you check in please report to the staging area.

3. The 1600 and 3200 meter mens and womens will be run separately. There will be 2 sessions ran (which will be determined the number entries). If there are 24 runners the 12 slower times will run in the 1st heat and the 12 fastest will run in the 2nd heat.

Field Events:

If an athlete needs to leave to compete in another event, they must check out with the event judges.

1. Long and Triple Jump

a. Athletes will compete in flights.

b. Each athlete will have four jumps.

2. High Jump Three Alive method will be used

a. Mens High Jump will start at 54 with 2 raises to 60 then 1 raises.

b. Womens High Jump will start at 46 with 2 raises to 52 then 1 raises.

c. Starting heights may be changed by the meet director.

3. Shot and Discus:

a. Athletes will compete in flights.

b. Each athlete will get 4 throw.
