Randy Espinoza from Deer Valley High School in Arizona has the top 3200m time in the nation for freshmen and the third-best 1600m time for freshmen. 

We used our database to see where this year's freshman class stacks up against the other freshman classes of years past.

The top freshman in the nation right now in the boys 1600m is Nathan Green from Borah High School in Idaho who run 4:17.53. There are five freshmen total under 4:20 so far this year.

In the 3200m, Deer Valley High School's (AZ) Randy Espinoza holds the nation-leading freshman time of 
9:29.24. With the 2-mile conversion, Ethan Strand from Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama leads the nation with a 9:27.93. In total, boys five have run sub-9:30 in the 3200m.
