Grace Ping after NXN 2016.
Molly Born of Kansas has the fastest returning 5K time in the country, with the only sub-17- minute time in the NXN Heartland Region. Don't let that fool you, though--this is going to be a tough region on the girls side.
Born is sure to be in the mix, but several young guns will be on a mission to make a name for themselves as well.
One is returning NXN Heartland Region third-place finisher Anna Fenske (MN). Fenske finished 22nd at NXN in 2016, running 18:06, but she's not the only up-and-comer striving for the title.
Another phenom as an eighth-grader, Grace Ping (MN), will be in action in the Heartland Region after moving back to Minnesota from Utah. In 2017, she finished sixth at NXN and fourth in a stacked Southwest Region.
There are tons of other top names on this list, and there is no doubt the NXN Heartland Region on the girls side will be one of the best meets of the year.
