This past year we saw some great 4x800m teams assemble. Some teams, like North Penn (Pa.) and Ridge High (NJ), ran fast in the beginning of the year at The Penn Relays Carnival.
While others, like Shoreham-Wading River (NY) and Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI), waited to drop the hammer until the end of the season at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
This season Shoreham-Wading River and Ann Arbor Pioneer were the only two schools to drop under the 8:55 mark in the 4x800m relay. If you compare the girls 800m team scores vs. 4x800 rankings, you will find that Shoreham-Wading River leads the country with an 8:51 in the 4x800m, but in the girls 800m team scores, they are currently ranked sixth in the country based off of season bests for their top four 800m girls.
Shenendehowa (NY) High is leading the 800m team scores but ranks 26th in the country for the 4x800m with a 9:07.
