Episode 2 of ON THE RISE: Allie Ostrander showcases the full range of an athlete found within the Kenai Central High School senior Ostrander. She has never ran at a national cross country championship meet prior to this year because while the rest of the top high school cross country runners in the nation are headed to Portland or San Diego every December, the 5'1" Ostrander has been stuck home indoors due to the rough Alaska winters as the starting point guard for her high school basketball team.

However, after adventuring out of Alaska last spring and enjoying a breakthrough race onto the national scene at the Arcadia Invitational in Southern California with a 10:03 runner-up finish in arguably one of the best high school girls 3200 fields ever assembled, Ostrander's rise to national stardom and earning a US #1 ranking this fall has propeled her decision to extend her cross country season (Alaska State Meet is first Saturday of October) for the first time and race in this Saturday's Nike Cross Nationals. Follow along the snow-covered path being plowed by Ostrander from a small town of Kenai, Alaska to face the nation's best this weekend in Portland, Oregon!
