Florida Boys Summary

Belen Jesuit had hopes of again qualifying for NXN Nationals in Portland, Oregon this year, but it was not meant to be. Competing as the "Miami Magis," the team missed out on qualifying by 39 points finishing in fifth place with 175 points. The team actually had the best 1-5 split (just 14 seconds!) in the field and crossed easily seven runners before anyone else managed to do so. However, they lacked the firepower up front to lower their score against this incredibly deep field.

Fabian Tomas was the #1 runner for the Wolverines today with a 29th place 15:52, followed by 31st place 15:53 from Avery Lopez, and 35th place 15:55 from Michael Magoulas for a very tight 1-3. Andres Fernandez and Ryan Rodriguez went 55-56 (16:05, 16:06) to close out the scoring, and Alexander Issac (62nd 16:11) and Diego Rojo (68th 16:14) added to the overall impressive depth. The teams in front of them though each had at least one in the top ten and two in the top twenty, putting the qualification out of reach for the boys from Miami.

Trinity Prep (Chappy's Army) was the next best Florida team with 499 points for 17th place. They were led by Daniel Salas' 16:02 (47th place). Ft. Walton Beach (Viking CC) and Winter Park finished 20th and 21st, respectively. John Lindsey of Winter Park ran exceptionally well; he was the top overall Florida finisher with a 15:51 and 26th place.

The overall winner was 4-0-2 miler Jacob Burcham of West Virginia with a ten second victory in 15:09.

Florida Girls Summary

The Fort Walton Beach (Viking CC) girls placed in 17th place with 394 points, one slot better than Olympia's 18th place 416 points. Emma Rudman was the number one finisher for FWB with a 42nd place 18:54, followed by Ivy Chatain's 57th place 19:05. Olympia, competing as the Orlando Titans, were anchored by Emily Headley's 51st place 19:01, followed by Kaitlyn Campo in 71st place and 19:11.

Kelly Fahey of Trinity Prep was the top overall Florida finisher in the race. Competing unattached, she crossed the line in 18:38 for 37th place.

The individual champ was Wesley Frezier of North Carolina with an eight second 17:17 victory.
