Pelliccioni's 7th Place Finish Qualifies for Foot Locker Nationals

 Sets WV#1 Time Ever at South Region

 

Cody Pelliccioni, senior from Morgantown, finished 7th and ran his personal best 5K in 15:04 at the Foot Locker South Regional held at McAlpine Greenway Park to punch his ticket to the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships that will be held at Balboa Park in San Diego California on December 11. Other top finishers in the Boys Seeded race include Brandon Doughty (21st - 15:23) and Dayton McVicker (27th - 15:25).

 

This is the fastest time by a WV runner in the history of the Foot Locker South Region. Justin Simpson of Oak Glen set the previous best mark in 2002 in 15:06.9 when he placed 7th and represented West Virginia at the National Foot Locker Meet. Simpson ran in the open race this year and finished 8th in 15:34.

 

 

Samantha Harris was the first West Virginia girl to cross the line in the Girls Sophomore race.  She placed 1st in a time of 18:26!  Maggie Drazba was 5th in an outstanding time of 19:01.

 

Sarah McCauley led the way for West Virginia in the Girls Seeded race running a time of 18:35 and placing 53rd.  Letitia Propst was not far behind in 69th running a time of 18:47.
