Nike Elite Interviews: Allyson Felix

Nike Elite Interviews

The first Nike Track Nationals is rapidly approaching and will take place on July 2nd, 2010 in Eugene, Oregon.  The day before the Prefontaine Classic the top-12 boys and top-12 girls high school track and field programs will compete in 10 events to determine the first ever national championship for a high school team.

In honor of this event, MileSplit.us has released a series of interviews and stories on elite Nike athletes.  The last installment in the series is Allyson Felix, the 2009 World Champion in the 200 meter dash.  (Photo by Victah Sailor, PhotoRun.net)

Allyson won the 200m dash at the 2009 World Championships with a time of 22.02 seconds.  That victory made Allyson the first woman to ever win 3 world gold medals in the 200!  She is also a two-time silver medalist at the '04 and '08 Olympic Games.  As a senior prep athlete Allyson owned the 200.  She set the still-standing National Record mark of 22.11 at altitude in 2003 and also owns the 2nd and 3rd times All-Time with times of 22.51 and 22.52, also from 2003.  Enjoy...
