Morristown, Peralta and George Sparkle at Garret Invite

Morristown swept team titles,  Luis Peralta and Anna George blasted the fastest times of the day, and High Point won a wild race at Saturday's Garret Invitational at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park.

In the boys team competition, Morristown went 3-9-21-22-27 and averaged 17:24 on the way to an 82-116 victory over Sayreville in the  A Division race. Morristown also wound up second in the team merge to Pearl River (N.Y.), 93-147.

Pearl River, led by Patrick McCann's victory in 16:52, crushed the B Division race by going 1-3-4-6-10, and averaging 17:14 en route to a 24-73 victory over runner-up Montville.   

Morristown had a great performance in the girls competition, outscoring runner-up Clifton, 67-82, to win the A Division team title. Morristown, which finished 7-12-13-17-18 and averaged 21:28, won the merge, 107-168 over Clifton. 

The best team race of the meet was in the girls B Division when High Point used a 6th runner tiebreaker to defeat Morris Hills after both teams scored 72 points. Isabelle Chase and Cara Zinner, High Point's No. 6 and No. 7 runners, each finished ahead of the No. 5 runner from Morris Hills to secure the dramatic victory.

Individually, Peralta and George threw down dominant performances.

Peralta, senior at Passaic who won the 800 at the New Balance National Championships last June, sliced 11 seconds off his previous best time at Garret when he won the Boys A race by 39 seconds in 15:51. Peralta's previous PR at Garret came when he won the NJ. Sec 1 Group 4  title last year in 16:02.   

George, a senior at Montville, rolled to the girls B Division title in 19:21, 65  seconds ahead of Jefferson's Sarah DeVries. It's the first victory of the season for George after runner-up finishes at the PTXC and Bernie Magee meets.
