Yariel Soto Commits To University Of Tennessee


One of Ohio's top track and field athletes has declared where he'll be competing at the college level.  

Yariel Soto has announced that he'll head to Knoxville next year to represent the Tennessee Volunteers.  

Soto excels at a variety of events both on the track and in the field. During his junior year, he was the DI 400m Indoor State Champion and he took victories in the long jump and pole vault at the DI Outdoor State Championship.  His impressive list of pr's include: 49:25 - 400m (indoor), 15-7 - pole vault and 24-2.75 - long jump. Soto has proven himself to be a threat to win any individual contest or multi-event competition that he enters.  

The Centerville senior has a wealth of big meet experience that he can draw upon once he touches down on the University of Tennessee campus. He's competed at New Balance Nationals Indoor, New Balance Nationals Outdoor, the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships and the Pan Am Combined Events Cup, among others during his decorated career. He placed first at the aforementioned Pan Am Cup in the decathlon due to his 6997 point total while representing his home country of Puerto Rico.
