How did you get started as a track or cross country athlete?

My soccer coach made me run track my freshman year to stay in shape for soccer.

What was your most memorable competition?

My most memorable competition was the Wright County Conference East Championships my junior year. I had a big PR and we ended up tied for co champions of the meet. It was Waconia's first conference championship in 14 years.

Who were your biggest competitors in your track/XC career?

Out biggest competitor as a team was rival Hutchinson. They had always beat us at conference, but like I said before, we were co-champs my junior year, and then we won the conference outright my senior year, beating them by 30 points.

What was your greatest accomplishment as a track/XC athlete?

My greatest accomplishment was winning the 4x400 relay at conference my senior year and getting all-conference.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your track/XC high school?

If I could do it over again, I would've taken track a lot more serious my freshman and sophomore year. The first two years I did the minimum for the work outs and was running on JV. During the winter before junior year I put in 300 miles in the offseason, along with weight lifting, and improved my PR by over 4 seconds.

How have your coaches been an influence to you as an athlete and a person?

My coaches have had a massive influence on me. Without them, I would not of had the success I had and might not of made it past my first year of track.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

My most difficult obstacle was a knee injury before my senior year. I injured it in a soccer game and it affected my running and training all off season into the season. I still managed to tie my personal best, but unfortunately the season didn't turn out like I'd planned.

What will you miss the most about high school track/XC?

What I'll miss most is just being with team all the time. We're all pretty close and I'll definitely miss them next year. From practice to bus rides, we were always laughing and there was never a dull moment.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Advice I would give to younger athletes would to make sure you run in the offseason. The offseason is where PRs and records come from. You need to be running and lifting in the offseason if you want to have success.

                  What are your post-graduation plans?

I will attend UW-La Crosse in the fall and plan to major in Geography with a minor in Spanish.

Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?

I'd like to thank my parents first. I could not of done it with out them. I'd like to thank my coaches for taking the time to work with us and make us better.
