Emily Kompelien Goes For The Win In The 1600
Edina (MN) High senior Emily Kompelien threw down the hammer with 300m to go in the 1600m at the Hamline Elite Meet on Friday to win in an impressive season debut at the distance in 4:56.57.
It marked about a second improvement from this same race last year for the Brown University recruit. Farmington's Lauren Peterson was second in 4:59.74, while Math & Science Academy freshman Tierney Wolfgram was third in 4:59.84.
The win also finished a solid start for Kompelien, who doubled with a win in the 800m in 2:12.79 and contributed to a seventh-place finish for Edina in the 4x400.
