Six Things To Watch At The Great Southwest Classic Invitational

Tyrese Cooper Looks To Run Nation-Leading Times

WhoTyrese Cooper (Miami Norland HS)
What: 60m, 200m, 400m
WhenMeet Starts At 5 PM (MST) Saturday, Feb 10

Why: Tyrese Cooper from Miami Gardens Xpress Track Club (FL) is one of the best sprinters in the nation. Cooper is entered to run in the 60m, 200m, and 400m this weekend. Cooper holds some of the fastest PRs in the nation in these events. In the 60m dash, he has run 6.78, in the 200m 21.05 and in the 400m 46.01. Last year he raced several indoor meets up to this point in the season. This year he should be coming in with relatively fresh legs as he's only run at The VA Showcase this indoor season. At that meet, he ran the 300m placing third in 33.12 and 500m where he ran 1:03.18 for US No. 1.

After their race in the 300m dash at The VA Showcase, Cooper will no doubt be coming into this meet with Brian Herron's current US No. 1 times on his mind. Herron holds the US No. 1 marks in the 200m (20.95), 300m (32.64), and 400m (46.43) dashes. Herron was entered in the 500m dash to face Cooper again but pulled out as a precautionary measure for a small injury.
