Why: Canyon Springs (CA) HIgh's Bryan Howard set the record back in 1994. That makes this record 24 years old and the third-oldest indoor national record. Howard also holds the second fastest mark all-time in the boys 50m dash with his 5.74 from that same year. According to the 50m all-time list, the last person to come close to his mark was Shane Crawford of Winamac Community High School in Indiana. Crawford ran a 5.79 in 2007. The current U.S. No. 1 in this event is 6.31, held by Danbury High School's (CT) Jaden Cazorla. But guess what? Barely anyone runs the 50m dash anymore -- most high school indoor competition is limited to 55m and 60m, which means this record is all but safe.
