Weekend Rundown: Great Oak Boys Power Past Competition For Win At Mt. SAC

A week after being upset by Indianapolis Cathedral (IN) High junior Cole Hocker in the Indiana High School Athletic Association Noblesville Regional, Hamilton Southeastern (IN) High senior and University of Colorado commit Gabe Fendel punched his ticket to state with a dominant performance, going 15:08.20 for the win at the IHSAA Semi-State Championship on Saturday.

Hocker followed in 15:15.30, while Fisher High's Sam Kuhn was third and Carmel High's Colin Murphy was fourth, leading the Carmel boys to a first-place team finish with 46 points.

Fendel, who was the runner-up in last year's IHSAA cross country state championship, is looking for his first state championship on Oct. 28.
