The Scoop: Big Commitments, A Major Debut, And One Dominating Stretch

5. Great Coverage From The FSU Pre-State Invitational

One of the best meets in the southeast took place in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday at the FSU Pre-State Invitational on Apalachee Regional Park.

The course, which will hold the NCAA championships in 2021, played host to some stellar racing and fantastic team performances, including big wins out of two emerging athletes in Florida and Georgia.

Lake Wales (FL) High senior Paul Stafford held off the disappointment of his junior season's finish at state (37th) and found a bit of redemption on the ARP course, winning in a second-half blaze of glory that saw him dominate in the final moments.

Conversely, in the girls race, Colquitt County (GA) High's Elizabeth Funderburk jettisoned to the front at the beginning of the elite girls race and never looked back, once again producing a top result in her reason.

Those are just two reasons to watch all the action from the FSU Invitational.

You can catch all the action from the meet in our archives, including full race videos and commentary, interviews with race winners and thousands of photographs.
