Three Pennsylvanians Set For Pan-Am Junior Championships In Peru

Pennsylvania will be well-represented in Trujillo, Peru this weekend for the Pan-Am Junior Championships. Jordan Geist, Kyle Garland, and Nick Wolk are all set to compete in South America after qualifying for the meet at the USATF Outdoor Junior Championships in Sacramento, California.

Geist, a recent graduate of Knoch and future Arizona Wildcat will compete in the shot put. Geist, the all-time PA state record holder, threw 69-4.25 to win the national junior title with the 6-kilogram shot. That event is set to go off on Sunday, July 21 at 11 A.M. eastern.

Garland, a rising senior at Germantown Academy is set for the decathlon. He scored 7,035 points to take second at USATF Junior Outdoors to University of Texas's George Patrick. The decathlon starts with the 100 meters at 9:25 A.M. eastern on Friday morning and runs through Saturday afternoon.

Wolk, who will be a rising sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Peters Township, clocked a time of 14:26.54 to win the 5,000 meters at juniors. The 5K will go off at 5:40 P.M. eastern on Friday.
