WATCH: Tori Gerlach Take 3rd in the Steeplechase at NCAAs


Penn State's Tori Gerlach ran a time of 9:46.76 to place third in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday afternoon.

The fifth-year senior, who formerly attended Pennridge High School in Perkasie, Pa., put herself in the mix early in the race. Boise State's Allie Ostrander strung out the field late in the race, causing Gerlach to drop off the leaders a bit, but the Nittany Lion closed hard and wound up taking third in a competitive race. Ostrander took the win in 9:41.31, while Colorado's Madison Boreman was second in 9:46.48 followed by Gerlach.
