The Scoop: Port Arthur Memorial Makes History

6. Vernon Turner Went Over 7-Feet In the High Jump For the Fourth Time This Season

The Yukon (OK) High senior made history earlier this season when he went a National Federation of High Schools record of 7 feet, 6 inches in the high jump.

In the weeks since, Turner has kept his foot on the gas pedal, logging height after height at 7-feet or higher in state competition.

On Saturday, the Oklahoma State signee completed his regular season and postseason body of work by winning his third straight title in the event with a height of 7-4.

And then he tried his hand at breaking a national record of 7-7.25...which he barely missed (above).

It was the fourth time he's marked a jump at that height or more over the season.

Turner hasn't marked a jump under 7-feet all season.
