The Scoop: Athletes Emerging in March, National Leaderboard Evolving

6. There was a big 5K in Texas this weekend….But don't forget about that performance in Kentucky, where a meet record and new US No. 1 went down

A huge amount of coverage went out to the Texas Distance Festival this weekend, considering the event had hugely compelling races to watch in the boys and girls 5K.

But the girls event at KYTrackXC.com didn't disappoint either, with Lexington Catholic's Michaela Reinhart going a new US No. 1 with a time of 17:05.09.

While the time will mostly likely be broken at some point this season -- historically, the race has offered times in the 15:50-16:20 range -- it still was a great debut for Reinhart, who ran her first 5K on the track. Over at the Texas Distance Festival, McKinney North (Tx.) freshman London Culbreath went 17:13.89.
