CA Results from Simplot Games

Several California athletes make the trip to Pocatello, Idaho every year for the world-renowned Simplot Games, one of the biggest high school meets of the indoor season. They joined teams and individuals from all over the Pacific Northwest, states as far away as Arizona, plus Canada and even Australia. And every year, a few Golden State stars come back with national-caliber performances that affect the US rankings. 2017 was true to form, as our state brought home X new US Top 10 marks.

Davis Triples, Adds Another US #1

Do you think the Agoura star ever gets tired of doing the same three events meet after meet? It doesn't seem so, because she keeps getting better and better. In Texas last weekend, she broke the all-time high school record in the long jump, posted the #2 mark in the country in the triple jump. while also winning the 60 Hurdles. This weekend she repeated the three wins, this time taking over US #1 in the hurdles at 8.22, making her the 8th-best performer in high school history. She fell just short of her best marks in the jumps, but her marks would still have been US #1 in the long and US #2 in the triple! We remain amazed by this young lady, and can't wait to see what else she can accomplish this season.

Wilson Also Earns US #1

Oaks Christian star Carolyn Wilson ran an indoor PR of 54.24 in the 400, finishing second behind a Canadian athlete and moving herself all the way up to US #1 at this distance. Wilson ran 0.03 faster than Olympian Sydney McLaughlin did in New Jersey yesterday, and there's little doubt that this is a preamble to a great spring season.

Reed, Webb Improve CA #1 Dash Times

Jasmin Reed (Serra) continues to turn heads this winter, establishing herself as a true force in the sprints for the upcoming outdoor season. This weekend she clocked 7.39 in the 60 Dash to move up to a tie for US #3, losing narrowly to arguably the best young athlete in Australia. Reed also finished 2nd in the 200, although it wasn't her best time of the season. In the boys' 60 Dash, Myles Webb (Oaks Christian) improved to 6.88, still the best in California and US #21.
