If it weren't for an upstart named Sydney McLaughlin, Anna Cockrell would likely be a national champion by now. Instead, the national record holder from New Jersey has helped push Cockrell to marks on the all-time list: her new best effort of 55.89 is the fourth-fastest ever for a high school girl. She also ties for No. 10 all-time in the 100m hurdles with her PR of 13.17. Cockrell's 400m hurdles time ranks No. 18 in the nation this year.
