Central 4x4 team highlights Day 1 of NBNI


Day 1 of the New Balance Nationals saw several top performances from Rhode Island athletes on Friday.

Central High captured the Emerging Elite 4x400-meter relay. The foursome of Anthony Vega, Dametrius O'Connor, Austin Wolo and Donatien Djero combined for a winning time of 3 minutes, 24.14 seconds.  Bishop Hendricken was sixth with a time of 3:25.19.

Mount St. Charles' CJ Berg finished eighth in the championship 5,000-meter run with an all-time best of 15:10.51.

In the EE boys' 25-pound weight, Central's Adrian Matos led a 1-2-3 by the Ocean State with a heave of 63 feet, 3.25 inches. Woonsocket teammates Dilyn Cote (61-11.75) and Jacob Greenless (60-11.25) finished second and third, respectively. Lincoln's Samantha Andrews was fifth in the girls' 20-pound weight with a distance of 47-10.5.

Nathan Narcisse of Classical finished fourth overall in the EE 60m hurdles with an 8.19 clocking.

The Hendricken quartet of Avery Ingegneri, Harrison Antone, Jordan Dagrin and Nick Williams were 13th overall in the EE 4x800m relay at 8:04.63.

La Salle was 18th in the boys' EE 4x200 with a time of 1:32.77. The Cumberland girls were 29th in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 12:44.01.
