Athletes to Watch at NBNI: Tyler Gleen

Who are the best CT athletes that will be competing at the New Balance Nationals Indoor (NBNI) Championships this weekend. Leading up to the nationals at the New Balance Armory in NYC, MileSplit CT will feature what we consider the top athletes from the Nutmeg State in their respective events.

Tyler Gleen, Trumbull

Championship 400

Trails, Saturday, 3:40 p.m.; Finals, Sunday, 2:21 p.m.

Gleen appears to be peaking at just the right time. The Trumbull junior was 26th overall in this event last year with an indoor best of 51.32 seconds. By the way he's been running lately, Gleen has a legitimate chance to improve on that time substantially this weekend, possibly cracking 50 seconds on The Armory's banked oval. Gleen won the 600m at the State Open with a nearly two-second best of 1:20.75. He followed that effort with an exciting win over pre-race favorite and top seed Rodney Agyare-May of Burncoat at the New England Championships with an all-time best of 1:19.92. At last year's Nationals, 21 runners went under 50 seconds. Gleen certainly has a chance to be among that group this weekend.
