Road to NBNI: Girls' Weight Throw

Who are the best RI athletes that will be competing at the New Balance Nationals Indoor (NBNI) Championships, March 11-13? Leading up to the nationals at the New Balance Armory in New York City, MileSplit RI will feature what we consider the top athletes from the Ocean State in their respective events.

Girls' Weight Throw

Emerging Elite, Friday, March 11, 3 p.m.

Championship, Sunday, March 13, 9:30 a.m.

Like the boys' weight throw, this event will have most of the top competitors making the trip to the Big Apple. Jillian Shippee of Shenendowa, N.Y., is your No. 1 seed with the only throw over 60 feet, a 60-4.75 effort on Jan. 31.  Rhode Island has potential to have a few make the podium.  With her winning toss of 57-1 at the recent New England Weight Throw Championships, Classical's Lysah Russell is ranked No. 3 in the country.  Toll Gate's Courtney Jacobsen (56- 7.5) is No. 5 and Smithfield's Meagan Malloy (54-0.75) ranks 13th.
